From the City Government of Samal Island

WITH tourism arrivals in Davao Region showing an upward trend, Bali Bali Beach Resort in the Island Garden City of Samal, Davao del Norte launched its hotel component within the property to increase the island’s available rooms and cater to more local and foreign tourists.

The P18-million worth hotel can house a maximum of 80 visitors and clients. The three-story hotel building has 10 deluxe and superior rooms.

“We decided to build a hotel because we always got a lot of inquiries of big reservations that is beyond our room capacity,” said Remigio Garcia, owner of Bali Bali Beach Resort, said during the re-launch of the resort last Friday, November 25 in Barangay Catagman, Peñaplata, Samal.

He added that a group of some 70 Americans called them last year for reservations.

Ester Garcia, c0-owner and wife of Remigio, for her part, said the first floor of the hotel will be for the conference room that can accommodate around 200 participants while the second floor will be for the hotel rooms.

The hotel was made open to public in February this year.

“For the third floor, we are thinking of making it a spa and wellness center or a gym,” she said.

The owners said they are eyeing that the third floor will be realized by next year.

The hotel has nine deluxe rooms with either the forest at the backdrop or the beautiful landscape of the resort as the view from their glass windows. It is good for up to four guests as the rooms are spacious and cozy with two queen size beds and separate toilet and bath.

The superior room suite located is perfect for families or groups of up to four guests. The suite includes a spacious living area, a nook, and a bedroom with king size bed.

Staying in visitors will enjoy the hotel room’s air-conditioner, flat screen television with cable access, hairdryer, hot and cold shower and standard toiletries. The stay will be inclusive of welcome drinks, boat transfer and breakfast.

The owners said the newly-built hotel provides clients a sense of “home” as its features are designed for tourists to feel comfortable, spacious, cozy and just perfect for relaxation, like a home away from home.

“We are very bullish and positive about the tourism industry in Davao region and we want to take our part in the region's growth, and as anticipation, apart from this hotel, we are looking at developing another two-hectare property, some 20 minutes away from here (Bali Bali),” Garcia said.

He added that they re-launched the resort this year to reach more market not just local but national and foreign tourists.

Bali Bali, a Pangasinan word which means “simply beautiful” is a resort nesting in a one-hectare beachfront property located at the southwest coastline of Samal. It is a semi-private resort which projects exclusivity and boasts of its features that promote tranquility, serenity and privacy.

Guests are accommodated in its six culture-inspired themed villas and suites that reflect the ambiance of Japanese, Thai, Balinese, Oriental, Mediterranean and Filipiniana. It also has two two-story “rester” suites.
