SAMAL NEWS | As tapped to provide technical assistance to mango growers and processors, the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority XI (TESDA) in coordination with the Department of Agriculture (DA) – RFO XI conducted two-day training on management of major pests and diseases of mango on January 26-27, 2021 at Isla Farms, Barangay. Licup, Samal District.
Forty participants were majority members of Samal Island Mango Marketing Cooperative (SIMCO), some were from various TESDA schools of Region XI, City Agriculture Office (CAGRO) and a representative from Nakashin Davao International, Inc.
It is a continuing effort of both government and private sector in giving priority to address the emerging pests and diseases as well as mango production, processing, and marketing.
Inputs on mango diseases, pests and pesticide management were tackled on day one, while the field practicum conducted on day two as well as the graduation ceremony for those who completed the training.
“Daku’g tabang kini nga training sa mga mango growers. Mahibal-an nila kung unsaon nila pagpalambo ug pag-manage sa mga peste sa mangga.” Provincial Director Arlyn S. Bandong, CESE of TESDA said.
