The pre-registration for the implementation of Philippine Indentification System (PhilSys) kicks off having signed a Memorandum of Agreement between Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Region XI OIC- Regional Director Pepito Amoyen with City Mayor Al David T. Uy to include the city for the PhilSys pilot testing held at Fernandez Beach and Garden Resort on October 28, 2020.
The Republic Act No. 11055 or the" Philippine Identification System Act" had been approved by Pres. Rodrigo Duterte on August 06, 2018. This act seeks to establish a single national identification system for residents and resident aliens of the Philippines and a seamless transaction on both public and private establishments.
" Ang kining National ID mao ang ginatawag nga foundational ID ug ayaw kamo kabalaka nga dili na magamit inyuhang functional IDs (UMID card, Philhealth, driver's license, ug uban pang government-issued IDs) kay i-link na siya sa atong National ID pinaagi sa paghatag sa inyuha og PhilSys Number", OIC- Regional Director Amoyen said.
The PhilSys pre-registration already started on October 12, 2020 with a target of 5 million IDs to be release this year to the people who belong to the poorest of the poor areas.
Mayor Uy expressed his gratitude as the city will be part of the pilot testing for the national ID registration and gives his full support upon the implementation of it.
