LGU Samal Conducts Hearing for Local Farmers Industry..

The local government of Samal with the City Agriculture’s Office had summoned a public hearing in accordance to the amendment of the Farmers Code and Mango Code of 2020. The local hearing was attended by over 46 barangays which includes mango contractors and growers, farmers and hog raisers held last September 9, 2020 at Samal City Gymnasium.

Under the proposed amendment, the public hearing aims to inform the mango contractors and growers about the policies, support and assistance towards the production activities and quarantine measures of the mango farms around the island.

The revised Samal Island Mango Industry Code of 2020 is an ordinance amending the City Ordinance of 2010 proposing to declare the mango as the official commodity for the “one-town one product” (OTOP) of the Island Garden City of Samal. The amendments were proposed by Hon. Aldwin M. Jumao-as, Hon. Michael Robledo and Hon. Ruel Bantillo.

The public hearing was attended by the City Vice Mayor Richard Guindolman together with the other 15 members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod and the barangay officials and chairmen of Agricultural committee.
