COVID-19 EXECUTIVE ORDERS
The local government unit of Samal Island brought glory as it reaped First Place on the recently held 3rd Provincial Gawad Kalasag Award 2020 under the Component City Category. The City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council represented by CDRRMO Head, Mr. Janus Rafailes received a Gold Plaque and cheque worth P 50000.00 that would be used for the management’s future projects.
The city had already won three awards on the previous years which proved its consistency when it comes to disaster preparedness. The management for its wins had received a grand slam title this time which would automatically put them on the resting pedestal for two years before they could join the said competition. They are now automatically considered by the National Selection Committee (NSC) as the official entry of the region to the national level Gawad Kalasag Search that is now under desk evaluation.
The Provincial Gawad Kalasag Award searches for excellence in Disaster Risk Reduction Management and Humanitarian Assistance. The evaluating team from the Gawad Kalasag previously conducted an assessment and evaluation of the projects, activities and programs (PAPs) of the City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council. During the evaluation, the Local Disaster Risk Reduction Management officer Janus Rafailes together with the other members, presented the activities and projects of the management which addresses the preparedness, mitigation, response and rehabilitation in preparation for natural and man-made disasters.
